‘Just the right size’

A new aquatic facility for the City of St. Charles, Missouri, will give local children a fun place to play. The Blanchette Family Aquatic Facility, designed by Kimley-Horn and Associates and constructed by Contegra Construction Co., will include a dual-passenger water slide, an open body-flume, and a climbing structure. The combined construction cost of both facilities is $18.5 million.

The city has been working to replace its aging pool system with three family aquatic centers in recent years. Those facilities are no longer fit for purpose, and the city must generate revenue to pay for operations. The existing pools were built during the 1950s, and St. Charles had three different locations in town. Eventually, the Blanchette Aquatic Facility was renovated to accommodate a new addition.

Concession menu

If you’re looking for a fun family outing, head to the new Blanchette Aquatic Facility in St Charles, MO. This indoor/outdoor water park offers plenty of activities for the whole family, and you can even get a treat or two from the concessions! Aside from hot dogs and pretzels, the menu also features nachos, sandwiches, and burgers. And for the adults in the family, there’s a variety of beverages, drinks, and treats to help you unwind after a long day of splashing around.

Visitors can enjoy the water park’s many amenities, including a playground, 4 picnic shelters, a football field, 2 large and one small baseball diamonds, 12 horseshoe courts, a paved trail park, and the Rau Garden. There’s even a restroom at the park for your convenience. In addition to the concessions, the park features an Angel of Hope statue and restrooms. A great place to also visit is!

Lifeguards

A shortage of lifeguards has forced the closure of one of the city’s community aquatic centers, and the rest of the activities have been relocated to other locations. The St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department is now looking to find new ways to generate revenue and keep its public aquatic facilities open. Originally, the city had three pool facilities – Blanchette, Wapelhorst, and McNair – but is now planning to expand the three facilities.

A lifeguard at an aquatic facility is necessary for safety and protection. In addition to training and certification, lifeguards must follow a standard protocol to ensure the safety of everyone. A swimsuit code requires that a swimsuit-clad lifeguard supervise a specific area at a time. The code requires lifeguards to wear safety vests and a corresponding lifejacket.

After care

The City of St. Charles, MO, is building two new aquatic facilities for children and families. The Blanchette Family Aquatic Facility was designed by Kimley-Horn and Associates, and the Wapelhorst Family Aquatic Facility was designed by Contegra Construction Co. Both centers feature a climbing structure, dual-passenger water slide, and open body-flume. The combined construction cost is $18.5 million.

The new family aquatic center in Wentzille is a good fit for the city because it offers more amenities for families. Families that visit St. Charles’s park system are likely to travel west or east of the river to enjoy the facility. However, other area providers will likely have little or no effect on attendance. In addition, the new facility in Wentzville is outside St. Charles’ primary service area. Next blog post.
